Getting to know the layout

This section will help you get familiarized with the DrumThrash layout. After exploring the various panels we'll learn how to use the Time ruler and Transport panel to navigate through patterns, finally we'll see how to use the Follow option to auto-scroll the Event panel.

Main layout

 

Event panel

 

The Event panel is the main panel.

Function panel

 

The Function panel is where you can manage patterns, control kits properties, and manage files.

Playback mode: Displays the current playback mode. See Choosing a playback mode.

Playback measure: The current measure that is actively playing.

Master Volume: The Master mixer volume.

Master Effects: Opens or enables/disables the Master Fx bin.

 

Function Tabs: Left to right.

Kit panel

 

The kit panel is where you can build and manage your drum kit.

See creating and customizing drum kits .

Controller panel

 

The Controller panel is located at the bottom of the screen.

 

With the Controller panel you can:

 

• Change hit velocities

• Change hit pans

• Change hit lengths

• Browse and import files

• Audition Midi and DrumThrash pattern files

Time ruler

 

The Time ruler displays the current playback time and is used to navigate through a pattern.

The Measure Highlight shows the current active measure.

Left-clicking on a measure number in the lower black area will cause playback to jump to that measure.

To loop a measure move your mouse to the upper portion of the Time ruler. Your cursor will change to a loop cursor.

Left-click the Loop bar to loop the measure.

To loop multiple measures, left-click the upper portion of the Time ruler, then drag your mouse over the measures that you want to loop.
 
Right-click anywhere from the Loop bar down to switch between looping all measures or clearing all looped measures.

Tempo markers are displayed in the Time ruler in teal. See Tempo view

The Transport panel  below can also be used to navigate through a pattern.

Automaitcally scroll the Time ruler by selecting the Follow Timeline button.

Transport panel

 

The Transport panel is a visual representation of the current pattern and used to navigate through a pattern. The Transport panel also functions similar to the Time ruler.
